Application guidance

How can particles be monitored directly in the process?

A photo-optical inline probe installed in a vessel, pipeline, or other process equipment captures images directly in the process medium and tracks size, shape, and concentration over time. The appropriate configuration depends on the sample matrix, particle-size range, concentration, and operating conditions.

Explore common technical questions →
Is sampling required?
No. Inline measurement analyzes particles, droplets, or bubbles directly in the process, avoiding changes caused by sample withdrawal, dilution, and transport.
Can it handle concentrated systems?
Yes, as long as the probe, optics, illumination, and installation point are selected for the specific application.
How is the right probe selected?
Probe selection takes into account the measurement objective, type of dispersion, expected size range, concentration, pressure, temperature, viscosity, and fouling risk.
From images to data

Images reveal how the process is changing.

The probe captures images directly in the process medium. The software detects dispersed-phase objects, calculates distributions, and tracks their evolution—providing continuous insight into nucleation, growth, breakage, coalescence, and agglomeration.

Automated object detection in real process images
01

No sampling

The product is analyzed in its actual process environment, reducing sampling and preparation bias.

02

Real-time visibility

Continuous trends and distributions replace isolated measurements that arrive too late.

03

Actionable information

Results can support process development, monitoring, control, and quality assurance.

SOPAT · inline imaging
One platform, multiple dispersed phases

The right solution begins with your application.

The portfolio covers fine dispersions through millimeter-scale particles, but nominal size range alone cannot determine the right probe. The sample matrix, concentration, morphology, optical path length, pressure, temperature, and installation point define the appropriate system.

Parsum · inline particle sizing

Powders, granules, and pellets. The right size, in real time.

Laser probes installed directly in the process measure particle size, distribution, and velocity using extended spatial filtering technology (SFT), without sampling.
